Brian did a full re-evaluated of the system used to diagnose my daughter's car and did an update to the main program. He also refunded my money. I really appreciate how he reached out so quickly to my review, how concerned he was to the unintentional error and how he didn't hesitate to make any necessary improvements. Brian cares about his business and that shows. Last month, my U of O daughter called TripleA because her car battery was dead. She requested a jump-start or tow to Toyota & the AAA guy told her to go to Downtown Auto & that they could recharge the battery for a better price. She was able to drive the car & left it with Brian. He ran full diagnostics & told her the battery couldn't hold a charge & the alternator was broken. Priced it at $750 to fix. I called & spoke with Brian myself, to make sure I understood what the problem was. He was very nice, sounded very professional & explained everything to me. I decided to have my daughter drive the car to Toyota for a 2nd opinion (since they replaced the battery last year). Brian charged me about $93 for running the diagnostics & I felt it was ok for his time. BUT, Toyota ran the diagnostics & they came back with "Nothing is wrong with the battery or the Alternator that we can see" They did explain there might be & we will know over the next days to a couple of weeks if the battery dies again. It's been almost one month and the car is fine. Also, they did NOT charge me anything to run the same diagnostics. Nothing. I also want to add that if the car did need what Brian explained, Toyota gave me a much lower price. So, that all being said, I absolutely do not know if Downtown Auto was being honest or just looking to make it into something else. IF I would've agreed to fixing the car, I would've never known. He sounded very knowledgeable & I had no reason to doubt him except the price was a bit high. I am not telling you he is dishonest but I am telling you I am glad I went for a 2nd opinion to Toyota and won't be going back to Downtown Auto. Read more
